How to calculate the days between two dates
Select your start date and end date and the calculator will work out the difference between them. This is useful for planning deadlines, trips, events, projects and other date-based periods.
Example: From 1 June to 11 June there are 10 days between the two dates. Whether you count both the start and end date can change an inclusive day count, so check which convention you need for your particular task.
Calendar calculations can also span months of different lengths and leap years, which is why using a date calculator is often quicker than counting days manually.
How to use this tool
Choose a start date and an end date. UsefulFox calculates the calendar difference so you can check the length of a period without counting manually.
Days between dates examples
1 September to 15 September: there are 14 elapsed days between the dates. 1 June to 11 June: there are 10 elapsed days. If you need to count both the start date and end date as full calendar days, the inclusive count is one day higher.
Inclusive vs exclusive date counting
A standard date difference measures the elapsed time from the start date to the end date and does not count the starting day as a complete elapsed day. An inclusive count includes both boundary dates. For example, 1 June to 11 June is 10 elapsed days but 11 calendar dates when both 1 June and 11 June are included.
Days between dates across months and years
Month lengths vary from 28 to 31 days, and leap years add 29 February. The calculator uses the actual calendar dates, so you can compare dates across different months or years without manually adding the days in each month.
What can it be used for?
Use it for deadlines, holidays, anniversaries, contracts, events, countdowns and planning.
Frequently asked questions
1Does it account for leap years?
Yes. It uses the actual calendar dates involved, including leap years.
2Can I use dates in different years?
Yes. The calculator can compare dates across different months and years.
3Can I calculate a past period?
Yes. Choose the historical dates you want to compare.
4Why not count the days manually?
Different month lengths and leap years make longer periods easy to miscount.
5Do you count the start date when calculating days between dates?
The standard result is the elapsed difference between the two dates, so the starting date is not counted as a full elapsed day. If your task requires both boundary dates to be included, add one to the elapsed-day result.
6How many days are between 1 June and 11 June?
There are 10 elapsed days between 1 June and 11 June. If you count both dates inclusively, there are 11 calendar dates in the period.
